Mary Leonard, Ambassador of the United States of America to Nigeria has confirmed that the Federal Government has commenced discussion with Twitter over Twitter ban in Nigeria.

This was after Geoffrey Onyeama, the Minister of Foreign Affairs said that the suspension of Twitter was in the interest of national security and peace during the scheduled meeting with the envoys of the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Ireland and the European Union in Nigeria.

In reaction to the said reasons for the suspension given by the Federal Government, Mary Leonard insisted that free access to the ability to express self is very important and perhaps more important in troubled times.
