Twitter Ban: Twitter Reaches Out to Federal Government To Resolve Suspension – Lai Mohammed

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed has disclosed that the micro-blogging platform, Twitter has reached out to the Federal Government seeking high-level discussion to resolve Twitter suspension in Nigeria.

This was disclosed in a brief with State House correspondents at the end of the Federal Executive Council (FEC)’s meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential villa, Abuja.

According to Lai Mohammed, Twitter was suspended because it provided an avenue for people that were threatening the corporate existence of Nigeria.

He also said that the CEO of Twitter helped to fund the recent #EndSARS protest while allowing the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, to use the platform to call for the killing of policemen.

Lai Mohammed further disclosed that Twitter must be registered with Nigeria as a business concern, amid other conditions before the ban can be lifted.
