Sex For Grades: Sanwo-Olu Commends UNILAG’S Action of Dismissal

The Executive Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has commended the decision of the University of Lagos in dismissing the two lecturers found guilty of sexual harassment in the BBC’s investigative series, Africa’s Eye which starred an undercover reporter, Kiki Mordi.

The commendation was given during a courtesy call by members of the Federal Government’s Visitation Panel for UNILAG at the State House in Marina. This was reported by the News Agency of Nigeria, who also stated that the panel members were led by the Chairman, Lt. Gen. Martin Luther Agwai (rtd.)

While praising the institution, Sanwo-Olu mentioned that the dismissal of the two lecturers, Dr. Boniface Igbeneghu and Dr. Samuel Omoniyi Oladipo, will serve as a deterrent to members of the school that might have similar tendency and will also redeem the reputation of the university.

“The school has maintained high discipline, as seen in the media reports about two days ago, where lecturers who want to bring down the image and name of the school, were sanctioned.

”The management of the school has been firm in ensuring that nobody is above the law. These are parts of the commendable steps which the school management has taken, to ensure the standards are sustained,” Governor Sanwo-Olu said.

The governor also promised to fulfil its pledge to UNILAG, on the construction of a standard jetty at the school waterfront. In response to the governor’s commendation, the Chairman of the Federal Government’s Visitation Panel for UNILAG, Lt. Gen. Martin Luther Agwai (rtd.) described Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu as an education-friendly governor.
