LCDA Creation: Lawmaker Praise Gov Fayemi

Mr Tunji Joseph, the Lawmaker at the Ekiti House of Assembly representing the Ekiti SouthWest Constituency 2 has lauded Gov. Kayode Fayemi’s gift of Local Council Development Area,(LCDA) to his constituents.

Joseph said the creation of Igbara-Odo/Ogotun LCDA would ensure that governance is closer to the grassroot.

The lawmaker said this in a statement titled, “My people are happy for the gift of an LCDA, this is a welcome development” on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti.

Joseph, according to the statement, said the creation of new 19 LCDAs would promote peoples participation and sense of belonging in decision making and government’s policies.

“We expressed our sincere gratitude to Gov. Kayode Fayemi, who deemed it necessary to gift Igbara-Odo and Ogotun communities an LCDA.

” We have been clamouring for this for a long time, it is our collective aspiration.

On behalf of the traditional rulers of these communities and the entire people I represent at the state Assembly, we say thank you to Governor Fayemi,” the lawmaker said.

He then promised that he would continue to sponsors bills that would strengthen operations of the LCDA and bring more dividends of democracy to his constituents.

The Ekiti House of Assembly on Wednesday at a plenary presided over by the Speaker, Mr Funminiyi Afuye passed the executive bill for creation of 19 LCDA.

The new LCDAs were created from the 16 Local Government Areas recognised by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).
