The convener of IBI GIGA AMBASSADORS Chief Dr Alex Ajipe has advised the youths to take power through ballots instead of engaging themselves in any protest that can cause unrest in the country
Ajipe said this while felicitating with Nigerians on the occasion of this year’s Democracy Day.
Ajipe in a statement on Saturday by his media Aide Solomon Adewoye described Nigerians as God’s own people, waxing stronger and overcoming all challenges ranging from pandemic and lately, insecurity in the country.
Ajipe says despite the challenges confronting the nation, democracy remains the best option available to Nigerians, to build a prosperous country.
He however alluded to the transformational strides of the present administration and its obvious deliveries in poverty eradication, the security of lives and property, infrastructure development and the total well being of the citizenry.
Ajipe advised the youth to embrace democracy as a sure way to protect the country heritage and also take over leadership and not by destroying public properties and making the country ungovernable through unguided protests.
The statement read “When you riot or go on unguided protests and later it is hijacked and things are destroyed, note that what is destroyed will need to be rebuilt which will again eat into the labour required to focus on what is needed for a new future of our dream”
“Every government properties damaged or a youth’s soul lost to death are collateral damage that will require all our energy to rebuild or that we may not be able to bring back” .
“It’s so wise and more genuine to participate in the democratic process where majority opinions take leadership and make sense out of it”
“The June 12 spirit is calling out to our resolve to do the needful through the polling units and not the street because we have nothing to gain in killing each other in the name of secession“.
“With all the country has passed through since beginning of this democracy, its shows that God Almighty is with the people of Nigeria. Even our founding fathers would be happy that despite the vicissitudes of life and external forces trying to break us up, we have remain one indissoluble entity.I wish to use this opportunity to congratulate President Muhammadu Buhari, Ondo State Governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and the Ondo State Government for their efforts on developing Ondo and Nigeria. I know that we are not where we ought to be. However, we are not where we used to be”, he said.
