El-Rufai Continues to Down-Size The State’s Workforce As He Sacks 19 Political Appointees

Nasir El-Rufai, Governor of Kaduna State has just sacked 19 political appointees in his administration; he calls this ‘an administration re-structuring’ in a statement signed by the governor’s spokesman, Muyiwa Adekeye.

This is in the middle of the ongoing industrial tensions between the Nigerian Labour Congress, Kaduna and the State Government. The statement, that announced the sack of the 19 political appointees, also appreciated the departing state officials of their duty to the state and wished them well in their future endeavours.

Those affected by the sack include; Zainab Shehu (Special Adviser, Social Development); Mohammed Shuaibu (Senior Special Assistant, Stakeholders Relations), Aliyu Haruna (Senior Special Assistant on Youth), Halima Idris (Special Assistant, Creative Arts), Aliyu Salihu (Director General, Public Procurement Authority), Ashiru Zuntu (Special Assistant, Community Relations), Elias Yahaya (Special Assistant, Programmes), Tasiu Yakaii (Special Assistant to the Secretary to the State Government), Samuel Hadwayah (Special Assistant on Economic Matters) and Ahmed Gero (Senior Special Assistant Environment).

Also, the Special Adviser (Political) to the Governor, Ben Kure; and his aides – Mustapha Nyusha, Jamilu Mutum and Umar Haruna, the Deputy Chief of Legislative Staff (DCOSL), Bala Mohammed; and his special assistants, Halima Nagogo and Umar Abubakar, were all affected.
